Our Journey: From Awareness to Circular Baby & Kids Wear

 
We're on a mission at YoungYarn to create a circular model for baby and kids wear that benefits both parents and our planet. In this blog, I want to share our journey, from the early days to where we are now.

I started off working in online marketing for a fast fashion company. Having no background in fashion, I was unaware of the industry's impact. I worked there for less than two months, but it was enough to give me an insight into the sector. What struck me were the enormous waste, constantly changing collections, poor quality of clothing, lack of ethics, pressure to produce more, throwaway culture, and unethical marketing tactics. This was a turning point. I took a closer look at my own wardrobe and vowed never to buy fast fashion again.

As I delved deeper into the fashion world, I connected with small, ethical textile companies in Turkey. This was no coincidence; my partner is Turkish, and we already had a strong connection to the country. These companies were committed to sustainability, even if they couldn't always match the low prices of fast fashion. Their dedication inspired us to see a way to work together for a better future.

This led to the creation of our unique circular model for baby & kids wear. We focus not only on selecting sustainable materials and ethical production methods, but also on designing clothes that are durable, easy to pass on, and recyclable. When you return used clothes, other parents can buy or rent them secondhand, extending the garment's life. This keeps the clothes in use for as long as possible.
